Warrior Recap: 9/13/22 Wilson Earns Medalist in 9-Hole Match, Volleyball Falls on the Road

Once again, the golf team beats their previous best match score of the year as they continue to improve before the district tournament. The Warriors set out to their home course, Lonesome Pine Country Club, for a 9-hole match with John Battle and Union. All year long, the Warriors have hung with Union but haven't been able to top them in a match. Today they closed the gap even further. They got a standout effort from senior Robbie Wilson, who won the match as an individual with a 39(+3). Junior Davis Miller followed that up with a 42(+6). Rounding out the top 4 scores were junior Aaron Lawson with a 46(+10) and sophomore Jacob Hughes with a 47(+7). As a team, the Warriors totaled 174, trailing behind Union (169), by only 5 strokes. With Lee and Abingdon already punching their ticket to the region tournament, it is now left to the top team not already qualified to make it to the region 2D tournament. That will be decided by the top total team score in the district tournament, which will be the next match on September 20 at Cedar Hill Country Club.

The volleyball team traveled to Scott County today to take on Gate City in a rivalry mountain 7 district matchup. The night did not go so well for the Warriors, losing in 3 sets (21-25,18-25, 24-26). The Warriors struggled from the beginning to get momentum going, however, they fought in some close sets in the loss. Central was able to prolong the third and final set, but fell 24-26 to close out the night. The volleyball team will return to action on Thursday, September 15, at Abingdon.
