Warriors Take Down Trojans on Battle Hill

It was a rough three-game stretch for the Warriors coming into last night's district game against the John Battle Trojans. The Warriors came in 2-3 with three straight losses and were hungry for a win in Bristol, VA.

The Warriors got on the board on the game's opening drive thanks to a 3-yard run from senior Alec Gent.

Both team's first two offensive possessions resulted in lengthy touchdown drives, setting the score at 14-14 in the second quarter. Central would break the tie quickly on a 27-yard touchdown run from senior Braeden Church with 6:30 left in the second frame.

After a 57-yard catch and run from Church to Talan Yates, the Warriors carried a 28-14 lead into halftime and blew it open after the break. The Warriors defense did not allow a point in the second half and compiled three turnovers throughout the game en route to a 41-14 victory.

Alec Gent led the Warriors on the ground with 2 touchdowns, along with Braeden Church, who had 2 touchdowns, one through the air and one on the ground. Talan Yates received one of those touchdowns and punched one in on the ground from 17 yards as well. Kicker Ricky Oñate was perfect 6-6 on PATs in the victory.

The football team heads to Bullitt Park to take on the Union Bears in a key rivalry district game on Friday, October 14. Kickoff is set for 7:00!! #GoDubs
