It was a busy day today for the Warriors volleyball and golf teams today. The volleyball team took on Lee tonight in a district game on The Hill. The Warriors were rolling from the beginning, winning in three sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-17) over the Generals. Leading the way for the Warriors in kills was sophomore Emmah McAmis with 19. McAmis also pitched in 7 digs. Sophomore Abbie Jordan had 6 kills and 5 digs. Freshman libero Sophie Fleming had 14 digs as well as 14 service points and senior Emilee Mullins had 28 assists with 9 digs as well as 13 service points. The volleyball team will be back in action on Thursday, September 22, on The Hill against Letcher County Central.
The golf team had their most important match of the season today, the district tournament. The match was held at Cedar Hill Country Club in Jonesville, VA and it was a beautiful day for golf. The Warriors needed to put together a great score in order to qualify for the regional tournament. After a long and dramatic day, the scores began rolling in. The Warriors were led by junior Davis Miller, who shot his career-best 77(+6). Davis was already qualified for the regional tournament as an individual due to his regular season scores. Close behind him was senior Robbie Wilson, who qualified for the region tournament as well with an 80(+9). Rounding out the top four scores were junior Jacob Hughes at 90(+19) and junior Aaron Lawson at 92(+21). Despite their best score of the season, the Warriors settled for fifth place and did not qualify for the region tournament. Congratulations to the golf team this year on a fantastic season and good luck to Davis and Robbie in the region tournament! #GoDubs
