Warrior Recap: August 11, 2022 Golf Team Places Third in State Farm Classic

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

The Central golf team hit the road to Bristol, Virginia today for the first annual State Farm Classic at Clear Creek Golf Club. The weather was not in the Warriors' favor as the forecast was calling for steady rain at around 12:30 PM. The Warriors began to play at around 9:00 AM via a shotgun start. Each golfer began on the front nine holes and they quickly got to work with other Region 2D teams including Virginia High, Graham, Marion, Richlands, Lebanon, Gate City, and John Battle. Despite the rain, a few players were able to finish all 18 holes, however, a few were left out in the rain as the siren sounded from the clubhouse for all participants to stop playing at around 2:30 PM. Since not all players were able to finish all 18 holes, coaches and officials elected to only score the front nine scores for all players. After all scores were added up between the 8 teams, it was decided that the Warriors finished in third place with their top four scores adding up to a 190 total. The Warriors fell behind Marion (166) and Gate City (181). Leading the way for the Warriors were the #1 and #2 seeds senior Robbie Wilson and junior Davis Miller as both turned in a 43 on the front nine. Sophomore Jacob Hughes chipped in a 47 and freshman Dalton Marshall had a 57 to round out the top four scores for the Warriors. The golf team will return to action on Tuesday, August 16 at Cedar Hill Country Club for the Farmers and Miners Bank Invitational. #GoDubs
