Warrior Recap: August 26, 2022 Football Team Kicks Off Season With a Win

Friday night lights are back on The Hill, and the Warriors showed out in front of the home crowd. Lots of fans packed into Central Warrior Stadium to watch the football team kick off their season. Students were hyped up and ready to go following their pre-game pep rally during school, and they were loud as ever in the student section. The football team fed off of their energy as they took down Eastside by the score of 41-7. The Warriors sparked the momentum early after Nate West intercepted a pass on the game's opening drive. He would then return it 70 yards to the end zone to score the Warriors' first touchdown of the season. West didn't stop there. He went on to intercept another pass midway through the second quarter and returned it 22 yards for another score. The defense put together an outstanding day, forcing 4 Spartan turnovers and holding them to just one score. The Warriors' defense was good, but the offense was just as good. Senior QB Braeden Church helped lead the offensive attack in the air and on the ground as he scored one passing touchdown along with one rushing touchdown. He also contributed on defense when he recovered a fumble late in the second quarter. The Warriors had the ground game working very well on offense. Alec Gent scored two rushing touchdowns along with Church. The Warrior football team will be back in action next Friday on The Hill as they take on Marion in a non-conference matchup. #GoDubs
