The Warrior football team wasn't the only crew going to work tonight. The Central student section was dressed in bright neon colors and hard hats for the construction theme, and they rallied behind their Warriors to a 49-28 victory. It was a beautiful night on The Hill for some football, and the Warriors offense started rolling quickly in the first half. They got on the board on the game's first drive after a well-placed Marion kick forced Central to work from their own 4-yard line. That didn't phase Braeden Church and his offense as they stormed down the field and scored on a 35-yard run by Talan Yates. After only being up 14-7 after the first quarter, the offense caught fire, thanks to an amazing pass from Church to Dane Elkins in the back corner of the endzone, who made a leaping, toe-tap catch to put the Warriors up 28-7. The offense continued to roll as the Warriors carried a 42-7 lead into halftime. Senior tailback Alec Gent was the one to watch for the Warriors. Gent rushed for 3 touchdowns, two in the second quarter and one in the third. Braeden Church supplied the offense in the air along with Dane Elkins, who caught both of Church's touchdown passes. Avery Hall also punched in a 36-yard touchdown run to bolster the offense. On defense, the Warriors forced 4 turnovers, including a fumble recovery by Nate West. Kicker Ricky Oñate was perfect on his PATs but missed a 46-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. The football team will return to action next Friday, September 9th, at Ridgeview to open up district play!! #GoDubs
